Steely Dan & The Doobie Brothers

Walter Becker and Donald Fagen, the core members of Steely Dan, met at Bard College in 1967 and together formed the Steely Dan in 1971. Through the '70s, they recorded eight albums, hitting #3 on Billboard's Top 200 with 1978s "Aja." All told, they have an astounding four-decade catalog that includes hits like "Reelin' in the Years" and "Rikki Don't Lose That Number." The Doobie Brothers are pioneers of the California rock 'n' roll sound of the '70s. Formed in Oakland, the band evolved from a mellow, post-hippie boogie band to a slick, soul-inflected pop band by the end of the decade. Along the way, they racked up a string of gold and platinum albums, along with a number of radio hits such as "Listen to the Music," "Black Water" and "China Grove."
