Jazzmeia Horn

Horn was a winner of the 2015 Thelonious Monk Competition. Her debut record, "A Social Call" was released in 2017. One New York Times jazz critic assessed her stature as "the most talked-about jazz vocalist to emerge since CÚcile McLorin Salvant and Gregory Porter both became stars." The critic honed in on her particular style, including "a pinched, sassy tone in the highest register; a fondness for unguarded duets with her bassist ,,,; an array of rough, pealing nonverbal sounds that add drama to codas and interludes, hinting at meanings in the music that go beyond what fits on the page."
